Honesty and integrity are not negotiable – even when no one is looking. Although we all consider ourselves to be professionals, we can't forget that we are in a customer service business. We spend most of our waking hours at work, so we might as well have fun while we are there. On a related note.... work hard, work efficient, and go home in time to have dinner with your family. Teamwork is critical for a small organization to accomplish big things. We all make mistakes. It is important that we admit to our mistakes, learn from them, and then move on rather than trying to assess blame. They are not "problems" – they are "opportunities". While we often laugh about that statement, repeating it helps us focus our attitude constructively on an inevitable part of our business. Communication is critical – make it simple, concise, and personal. Hire qualified employees and give them the trust and freedom to do their job. Partner with qualified vendors and manage the relationship rather than fostering a low bid mentality. Value in real estate is best built up over time, as is a good reputation. A good broker/consultant always puts his client first and his commission second. |
